Bros-FRA/76 This group has
something that most progressive groups don’t: two Chinese. Aside from playing beautifully, the vocals are also
outstanding—imagine CSN&Y gone totally progressive, and you get an idea of
what Tai Phong sounds like: nice, delicate vocal harmonies, backed by great
music. Great cover, too.

Masayoshi: The Rainbow Goblins
(JAP) DBL LP/Gatefold/Kitty-JAP/81 Concept
album with occasional narration (in English).
Takanaka is a fine jazz-rock guitarist whose playing lands somewhere
between Santana and Larry Carlton to my ears.
If you’ve ever seen the laser disc or video of this work performed
live, you know what a treat it is. The
two pieces that take up side four are especially nice. The cover artwork is simply stunning! rw, dh VG---/M--/M--

Takeda: Spirits (JAP?) CASS/Viagem-USA/92
“Takeda explores new electro-acoustic dimensions with an intoxicating
blend of jazz, classical, Latin and new age elements.

of richly textured harmonies and challenging, unpredictable soundscapes.”

*Tandy & Morgan: Earthrise (ENG) Straight Ahead-USA Richard Tandy and David Morgan are both keyboardists from ELO (Tandy also sings), and they are accompanied by at least one member of Magnum (guitarist Tony Clarkin), as well as Kevin Peak (Sky guitarist) and Mike Giles. The result is a nice ELO/prog combo, science fiction concept album. Recorded in England but mastered and released here, probably sometime in the late 70s or early 80s. Still/Sealed $28

Taylor, Dub: Lumière (For Synthesized & Concrète Sound) (USA) Varèse Intl.-USA/73 Dub is also known as Keith Taylor. The album is comprised of two sidelong pieces, and the music is, as you might expect from the title, a combination of electronic and musique concrète. The concrète sounds include everything from radio transmissions, jets, pink noise, historical records, random voices, and all kinds of other strange “found sounds,” interspersed with weird electronic creations. Pretty wild stuff; if you like experimental electronic and concrete music, this is for you. On blue vinyl! Still/Sealed $70

Sounds-USA/89 Split album,

two of To Nije Sala’s members (with the third member also appearing on two
